Maitane Olabarria has nearly 20 years of experience in European affairs and standardisation. She is the Secretary General of SBS (Small Business Standards) , the European association representing the interests of small and medium sized companies in standardisation at the European and international levels.

In her capacity she represents SBS in different standards related groups such as the CEN Technical Board, CEN and CENELEC Policy Groups or the Sherpa Group of the High-Level Forum on European Standardisation.
